Skytide for IBM DB2
Entirely new sources of information are changing how businesses are managed, and the majority of this information is locked in unstructured data sources such as XML that cannot be understood by conventional business intelligence systems. The ability to analyze a combination of XML and relational data is critical to rapidly extracting insight from this new business data. Skytide and IBM’s DB2 Viper provide the unique data analysis capabilities required to analyze all available information to keep up with the rapid pace at which markets and customer needs are changing.
Figure 1. The Skytide eXtensible Online Analytical Processing (XOLAP) analyzes data from the entire data continuum, including structured, unstructured, and extensible data, all without time-consuming data transformations.
The Skytide eXtensible Online Analytical Processing (XOLAP) solution (see Figure 1) brings the power of multidimensional analysis directly to unstructured and extensible data, which are the fastest growing segments of corporate data. Existing analytical tools and applications either ignore these data types or require complex transformations causing information loss and significant processing delays. Skytide analyzes all types of data, without transformations, and does so without the delays of other business intelligence tools.
IBM DB2 v9.1 (Viper)
The Skytide Analytical Platform enables IBM’s DB2 v9.1 to analyze all data regardless of how complex or dynamic — including structured and unstructured data sources. Only PureXML support in DB2 v9.1 and Skytide will allow businesses to analyze both XML and non-XML information using the data structures as designed without requiring custom programming. This creates a fast, flexible, and comprehensive resource for business intelligence.
