Skytide Names Industry Veteran, Michael O’Donnell President & CEO
San Mateo, California, January 16, 2009 (Marketwire)— Skytide, a leading provider of analytics solutions for digital media companies and content delivery networks (CDNs), today announced that it has hired Michael O’Donnell as its President & CEO. O’Donnell, 44, a veteran of internet, media, entertainment and consumer technology, was most recently President of Social Media at Cisco Systems’ Media Solutions Group. He joined Cisco in February 2007 after it acquired Five Across, a social networking software company where O’Donnell was President & CEO.
"I’m excited to join Skytide at a time when media companies and CDNs are clamoring for more meaningful insight into digital content delivery and performance against a P&L," said O’Donnell. "Our ability to generate precise business metrics from large volumes of disparate data, along with our deep industry knowledge of digital media, positions us well."
Prior to Cisco and Five Across, O’Donnell ran his own digital media consultancy; was CEO of BitPass, a digital media payments company; and was CEO & President of Salon Media Group, a pioneering internet media company that introduced one of the Web’s earliest subscription business models and signed over 500 advertisers. O’Donnell was also one of the founding board members of the Online Publishers Association.
"Having worked with Michael when he was leading Five Across and Salon, I’m thrilled to once again call on his leadership and executive experience as he accelerates Skytide’s efforts to bring more advanced analytics and business optimization to the digital content industry," said Tom Furlong, Skytide board member and Managing Director at Granite Ventures.
