Skytide Software Engineer (Full-Time)

Job Description

As a member of the Skytide's small, highly experienced development team, the software engineer will help build a green-field Ruby on Rails (JRuby) analytics application that solves network operators' problem of visualizing and managing their streaming video businesses. Our team has built a proprietary Java-based highly-scalable columnar data store and application which processes tens of terabytes of log data per day. This role will help transition the existing web application into a standards-based platform.

• Coding and testing of a new green-field RoR analytics project
• Integration with Java-based backend
• Release management of hosted analytics system
• Coordination with front-end software engineer on interactions and visualization
• Coordination with the server team on data API

Qualifications

Required Technical Qualifications:

• Experience with Java, JRuby, and Ruby on Rails
• Experience with web charting and visualization
• Experience with integrating into enterprise directories and network system management
• Experience with automated testing framework

Required Personal Qualifications:

• Experience in early-stage startup development organizations.
• Ability to independently conceive creative solutions to challenging technical problems.
• Absorb new technical ideas and systems quickly.
• Ability to effectively communicate, refine, and revise technical ideas with technical and nontechnical audiences.

Desirable Qualifications

• Understanding of content delivery networks concepts
• Experience with web-based video streaming technologies and concepts
• Experience in XML database, RDBMS, or other data management systems.
• Experience with ETL, data warehouse, or analytic software.
